Rocketboom looking for another rocket

Courtesy of my close friend Dave Winer comes news that Amanda Congdon has left Rocketboom, the massively popular video blog/online TV show that she co-founded with Andrew Baron — who was on a very well-received panel about the future of broadcasting at our mesh conference in May.

According to the video clip she has posted at her site, she was effectively fired by Andrew, who owns 51 per cent of the company. I’ve got an email in to Andrew to try and find out what happened, but it would appear that Rocketboom has lost its rocket (or its boom). What that means for the future of the popular show — and for Amanda, who has gained a wide following in the blogosphere — remains to be seen.

Maybe Andrew might be interested in hiring our very own Web-tech video jockey, Amber MacArthur of G4TechTV’s Call For Help.

    Congdon officially signed out of Rocketboom, apparently in response to being fired by business partner Adam Baron. That soon got responses from Valleywag and Techcrunch. The incident soon got dugg, and a lot of otherbloggers jumped on the wagon. Adam responded to requests asking “What the fuck?” and later put a message up on Rocketboom.com, which immediately caused Valleywag to raise the eyebrow, because he says that SHE left HIM!

    feet sooner. My money is on Amanda, as is probably most of the world’s. Rocketboom has about a month to find a suitable replacement, but if Andrew didn’t already have one in mind before “firing” Amanda, then he’s really dropped the ball here.Matthew Ingram suggests Amber McArthur, who in my opinion, is even more suited for the job than the woman she’d be replacing, but who knows if she’d even do it. If I’m Amber, I’m aiming higher than that right now. No one wants to be another Deborah Norville. In any case, go Amber

Andrew has his statement up andMatt points out that “Andrew, who owns 51 per cent of the company” Question at play – who owns the remaing 41% of the company actually ?? Now don’ we feel like we are seeing a diffrent picture ?? :)-

    I think it is good that Amanda goes. Just a pretty face. I think Andrew will find another stunner and it will be on with the show
