Google is the biggest player on the internet market, it is just obvious. like other monopolists Google can implant its rules, you like it or not, but it really never lessen the power of Google’s suppliers. With it you can reach what you can hardly achieve on your own.

I'd have to side with Carr, at least for the example provided here, Mathew. If Google has the ability to giveth, it also has the ability to taketh away. For example, if Google changes your PR to a 10 tomorrow (melting your servers!), then a week later decides for whatever reason to dial back to a 1, that's enormous power that it has exerted over the exposure of your site. I'd argue that individual publishers or suppliers have relatively less power within such an environment.

Global network is really great and has a lot of possibilities for people and componies to expose the content! It can be done in different ways, including google indexing. I think it has much more cons than pros.
