Need to allow innovation in this space. Craigslist does a great job at providing a straightforward service to a wide audience. At the same time, companies like www.SaleWindow.com are pushing the envelope with video based classified. There's still lots of scope for the classified market with several players.

I agree. Craigslist does not care about any of its competition. And it will be long before anyone can narrow the gap between craigslist and other classifieds that are far behind. I have been using Khrido lately. Growing up pretty fast. Has good graphics and easy to use mechanics. But I would still root for craigslist, all the way !!!

I would actually love to see some decent competition to craigslist. I think CL is still stuck somewhere back in 1999. Hey-- you can add pictures to your classified ads! Big whoop. They should have done that long ago. How about creating the option for 'real identities', so you can feel a little more comfortable buying your used cars and electronics? How about search that is actually useful? How about being able to 'block' certain ads so that you don't have to sift through the same crap over and over? How about giving users a little more power to make CL more useful? I bet if they created an 'open-source' CL it would be pretty amazing in no time -- they could keep the super-simple front-end for those that want it, and let others upgrade to something more robust and useful.
