I love Rob's comment about good podcast content being a taskmaster. It's true. I've been podcasting for more than a year and I know the work involved in planning and producing a compelling podcast.

Some organizations are now outsourcing this work -- just as they outsource their advertising, newsletters, etc.

As for video blogs or vlogs -- I think they work well when the visual component helps to convey the message. Talking heads need not apply. ;-)

[...] I was over at Mathew Ingram’s blog reading his comments about why podcasting may be worst than vlogs. Mathew isn’t crazy for saying this, but I do agree with him that there’s alot of really bad podcasts out there. I even presented on a podcast gone bad at Casecamp back in July.
Podcasting, and Vlogs are (IMHO) longtail examples of media distribution. The chances of me finding a radio show on VoIP where I can hear industry leaders discuss candidly and openly, isn't going to happen any time soon on my local radio station.

But now I subscribe to 4-5, and look forward to new episodes, it isn't about content entirely.

The medium is still the message.
